Michael Jordan will be Michigan's honorary captain for football season opener

The University of Michigan will have the first football program outfitted in Jordan gear this fall, and things are apparently getting even more interesting for the brand’s big launch at the Big House.

Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh said on Friday’s “Rich Eisen Show” that Michael Jordan will be Michigan’s honorary captain for their Sept. 3 season opening game against Hawaii in Ann Arbor.

Michigan, which had been with adidas for years, signed a $173.8 million contract in March to switch to Jordan starting Aug. 1, and the new Jordan uniforms are expected to be revealed sometime between then and when Jordan himself shows up in Ann Arbor.

With $173.8 million on the way, the Wolverines ought to be able to put together a pretty impressive welcome party.
