Meachum sets rushing record, Sacred Heart beats Bryant 47-27

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Jordan Meachum rushed for a school-record 318 yards and three touchdowns, Julius Chestnut ran for 162 yards and three scores, and Sacred Heart beat Bryant 47-27 on Saturday to remain the only undefeated team in Northeast Conference play.

Meachum surpassed Marvin Royal's 302-yard record set in 2000. Meachum had 23 carries and scored on runs of 40, 70, and 99 yards.

Chestnut ran untouched 75 yards to tie the game at 14, scored the go-ahead touchdown with a 10-yard run and forced a Bryant fumble on a kickoff. His 62-yard third-quarter TD run made it 40-20. Kevin Duke scored on a 24-yard run.

The Pioneers had a season-high 573 total yards of offense, surpassing their 542 last week against CCSU, and rushed for 532 yards against the Bulldogs (5-3, 2-2).

Price Wilson, 7 for 19 for 83 yards, threw a 2-yard TD pass to Andrew Schultz for Bryant. Alfred Dorbor scored on a 1-yard run, Brenden Femiano scored on a 13-yard run and David Onyemem recovered a blocked punt for a score.
