Maryland 'Likely' to have new offensive weapon for Penn State game
Maryland football fans could be forgiven for asking one question after watching star defensive back William Likely get the ball on a jet sweep at Ohio State two weeks ago.
"Where has that been?"
Well, the Washington Post reports they may get their wish of seeing Likely get the ball more beginning this week against Penn State.
Interim head coach Mike Locksley, who is also the team's offensive coordinator, explained why.
“Because he’s been doing it a couple of weeks now, we’ve been able to add a few things in there,” Locksley said. “You’ll see him there, not just as in red zone, but maybe throw him there when we need a play made or just to find a way to create a spark for us on offense.”
Combined with a greater run threat from once-and-again starting quarterback Perry Hills, will the Terrapins become a more dangerous offense?
Only time will tell.
Likely is one of three captains for the game, joining defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson and running back Wes Brown.
