Maryland coach Mike Locksley: 'Missouri situation is an awesome teachable moment'
With the Missouri football team involving itself in protests on the campus over the weekend, it was inevitable the Tigers' actions would become a topic of conversation across the country this week.
For his part, Maryland interim coach Mike Locksley seemed to welcome the chance to share his thoughts on the matter.
Locksley took over as interim coach of the Terrapins on Oct. 11.
He previously was offensive coordinator at Maryland, and prior to that was the head coach at New Mexico.
He has had two sons play for him and his youngest was a highly regarded quarterback prospect who is a freshman at Texas this fall.

“I think the Missouri situation is an awesome teachable moment. I would be in favor of making sure as a parent, if the guys or the players are right, then you support them.
“What I shared with my team was the power of unity, and that's something we've continued to talk about the last few weeks. I feel like as a team, we've come together, and we've tried to do things to build that bond. What I told the team this morning about the Missouri situation was that it's amazing what happens when a team comes together.”
