Maryland CB makes Hornung Award watch list
William Likely, a junior cornerback from Maryland, is one of seven players from the Big Ten included on the initial watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, which goes annually to the player who displays the most versatility, a la the Notre Dame back for whom the honor is named.
Likely earned All-Big Ten first-team honors last season when he tied for No. 1 in the conference in passes defended with 15.
He also led the Big Ten at 31.0 yards per kickoff return in 2014 and was third in punt return average (11.1 yards).
He returned two of his six interceptions for touchdowns.
