The Spartans' mentor is nominated for the Maxwell Football Club's Munger Award and the Football Writers Association of America's Eddie Robinson Award. Both go to the best coach in the nation.
Dantonio's competition for the Eddie Robinson Award are Kirk Ferentz of Iowa and Dabo Sweeney of Clemson.
Those three as well as Houston's Tom Herman, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, Temple's Matt Ruhle, Stanford's David Shaw and Oklahoma's Bob Stoops.
