Malzahn answers question about trick plays with a heated response
If Auburn is going to pull the shocker of the season against Alabama in the Iron Bowl, expect its offensive-minded head coach Gus Malzahn to reach deep into his bag of tricks.
The Tiger coach was prodded regarding one specific play, which sent him off Tuesday during his press conference.
"You guys are trying to give all of my secrets away, you know?" Malzahn said. "What else we want to tell them? Reverses? Any reverses? Y'all want some reverses? OK, we'll run some reverses, all right. You want some trick plays? We'll run some trick plays. Want to know what they're called? Just ask me.
"You worry about everything in a week like this. In our state, both groups keep a close eye on each other and you worry about confidentiality. You worry about all that this week, but that's the way it is every year. That's part of what makes this rivalry special, though. You got to think ahead and protect what you're doing."
Could the infamous pressure of the Auburn fan base be getting to Malzahn already? Some have speculated the Tigers need to at least keep the game against Alabama close for Malzahn to avoid the hot seat in 2016.
Would Auburn already be looking to remove Malzahn? For a school that gave the boot to Gene Chizik two seasons removed from a nation championship, anything is possible.
