LSU lands two talented in-state 2017 prospects

There are few absolutes within the realm of recruiting.

Due to its unexpected and sometimes baffling nature, virtually anything can occur. However, one of those absolutes sits in regards to LSU. Les Miles' program has made it an immense priority to put up a virtual fence around the state of Louisiana. Very rarely do the Tigers strike-out with top talent hailing from the Pelican State.

As the 2017 recruiting cycle has rolled around, this trend has invariably continued.

LSU recently picked up two pledges from local talents in Jontre Kirklin and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Both are from the greater Baton Rouge area.

Kirklin is a quarterback for his high school program. However, it appears as if he'll come to LSU as an athlete -- having the ability to feature on either side of the ball. He's a slippery player with terrific overall athleticism.

Edwards-Helaire picked LSU over multiple offers, including one from Oklahoma. A shorter, sturdy back at 5-foot-8, 197 pounds, Edwards-Helaire can absolutely fly in space.

Having the ability to be utilized in a number of ways, he's somewhat similar to current NFL star Darren Sproles.
