LSU kicker honors Mike Sadler, Sam Foltz with awesome cleats

LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye honors Mike Sadler and Sam Foltz with awesome custom cleats.

It’s been about two months since the Michigan State football family lost former All-American punter Mike Sadler after a devastating car accident claimed his life as well as Nebraska punter Sam Foltz.

The two were speaking at a kicking and punting camp back in July and left, driving in the rain and slid off the road and into a tree. Unfortunately, both were pronounced dead while a second passenger, LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, survived with a few cuts and bruises.

Delahoussaye has taken it upon himself to honor his fallen friends with some cool custom cleats that read ‘SAMIKE’ on the bottom and don the numbers of 27, Foltz’s number, and three for Sadler on the side.

While it’s an event that no fan of Nebraska or Michigan State, or really anyone, wants to remember, but honoring fallen friends like this is something special. Delahoussaye was involved in the accident and has to be thankful for a second chance at life.

The kicker has connected on his lone field goal of the season for LSU and he’s hitting 80 percent of his extra point tries.

It’s easy to see that sometimes it’s bigger than football. Sometimes even the fiercest of rivals come together and honor a fallen friend. It’s great to see this gesture by a kid who seems to be still mourning two major losses.
