LSU Football: DL Christian LaCouture to return?
It was not long ago when one of LSU’s most effective defensive linemen Christian LaCouture sustained an injury that many believed would forever bar him from returning to the LSU Football program.
Now, the former Tiger is talking of making a comeback from the ACL tear he sustained in the preseason that has kept him off the field for so long. Friday, LaCouture told ESPN 104.5 Baton Rouge radio host Matt Mascona that with the recent decision to make Ed Orgeron head coach, he was heavily considering rejoining the team.
He expressed that the change at the head coaching position was what really made him start thinking about playing football for the Tigers again, something that he may never have thought twice about in previous times.
“Ever since Coach O got the permanent job, they’ve told me a lot of positive things about coming back,” the former Tiger defensive lineman stated. “It’s 50/50 now. If I had told you two months ago, it was about 95/5 that I was leaving.”

LaCouture would be able to re-enter under Orgeron’s coaching by way of claiming a medical redshirt. Obviously, such a return would be a very positive thing for the Tigers in 2017.
LSU will have some holes to fill on defense after the season ends, as a number of key players will be leaving the team. There are concerns that Junior Davon Godchaux, arguably the team’s strongest defensive lineman, could be entering the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft. Defensive End Lewis Neal will be graduating, shorting LSU a second strong DL.

Many changes have taken place within the LSU Football team and its staff this year, and if LaCouture truly is to suit up as a Tiger again, this one would undoubtedly be one of the best things to happen in Baton Rouge this holiday season.
