Louisville Routes Florida State 63-20 In Top 10 Matchup
Sep 17, 2016; Louisville, KY, USA; Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson (8) avoids the tackle of Florida State Seminoles linebacker Dontavious Jackson (5) during the second quarter at Papa John
Florida State went up to Louisville and got crushed in what was a top 10 matchup.
The first drive of the game was simply foreshadowing of things to come from the Louisville offense.
They marched right down the field with the ‘Noles defense missing tackles and blowing assignments in the secondary to take a 7-0 lead.
The FSU football offense could not get out of its own way the entire game. The offensive line couldn’t block to open up the run game. The offensive line couldn’t block to give Deondre Francois time to throw the ball effectively.
The FSU football defense missed tackles all day long. They couldn’t get pressure on Lamar Jackson. When they blitzed, it was poorly timed and left receivers running wide open all over the field.
Even when they made plays, the ball bounced Louisville’s way. FSU football cornerback Tavarus McFadden had what looked like an interception, but the ball ricocheted into the hands of a Louisville receiver for a huge gain.
It just was not in the cards for the ‘Noles today.
Key observations:
This was the most points FSU football has given up in school history. It’ll be interesting to see how this team decides to play the rest of the season. It would be really easy for them to quit to be honest. However, if they win out and Clemson beats Louisville then FSU football would have a shot.
