Louisville Football: Where Did ESPN Rank The Citrus Bowl Compared To Others?
We take a look at where ESPN ranked Louisville football’s Citrus Bowl game in terms of being the most-entertaining this season.
The Louisville football team is preparing to take on LSU in the Citrus Bowl later this month. After a rough ending to the regular season, it’s going to be extremely important that the Cards are focused and prepared coming in to play the Tigers.

This is where Mark Schlabach from ESPN ranked the Louisville vs. LSU matchup compared to the other top bowl games this December/January.
5. Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: No. 20 LSU vs. No. 13 Louisville (Dec. 31, 11 a.m. ET, ABC/ESPN App)
Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Florida)“New LSU coach Ed Orgeron will try to carry some momentum into the offseason by handing Louisville its third straight loss. The game will feature one of the best tactical matchups of the postseason: Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino vs. LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.”
I think that Schlabach hit this one perfectly. The only other bowl games that are ranked higher than the Citrus Bowl are:
The first two games on the list make perfect sense. Everyone in the country wants to know which two schools will be heading to the National Championship this season, therefore that’s a no-brainer.
The Rose Bowl will bring a ton of intrigue since Penn State was left out of the College Football Playoff after winning the Big Ten, not to mention the Trojans are the only team to beat the Washington Huskies in 2016.
Michigan versus Florida State would be the only game I would argue that this Citrus Bowl could be better than, but it’s still the Orange Bowl and it will be great to see Dalvin Cook go up against Jabrill Peppers.
