Louisville Football: Joshua Bellamy has his best game of season against Packers

Former Louisville football player Joshua Bellamy had a season-high in receiving yards against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football.

It probably shouldn’t surprise you by now, but another former Louisville football player made a significant contribution to his NFL team on Thursday evening. Chicago Bears wide receiver Joshua Bellamy had his best game of the season against the Green Bay Packers in a loss on the road.

For the most part of the 2016 season, Bellamy has been shining on special-teams for the Chicago Bears. He has only had three tackles so far this year, but they have been huge tackles where Bellamy has tackled the punt-returner only a few yards after the catch.

With an injury to Bears’ receiver Kevin White, Bellamy has had an opportunity to work himself into the Bears’ line-up.

It may not be a significant stat line for a team’s receiver in one game, but Bellamy still was able to get his own season-high for 2016.

Unfortunately for the Bears, this performance was not enough for a win. Starting quarterback Brian Hoyer left the game because of a broken arm and the Bears never could get rolling offensively. Even though they aren’t great on offense, having Hoyer behind center would have made this one closer than it was.

This was a very encouraging sign to see Bellamy being targeted four different times on the night. It looks as though he could have a bigger role in the offense going forward.
