Louisville Football: ESPN's latest bowl predictions for the Cardinals

We take a look at where Louisville football is projected to go in the newly released ESPN bowl projections heading into the postseason.

The Louisville football team dropped to 13th in the Week 14 College Football Playoff poll on Tuesday night. After two straight losses, the Cardinals have played themselves out of going to the College Football Playoffs and potentially the Orange Bowl.

It’s been a disappointing ending to a great year, but the Cardinals can end the season on a high note if they win their bowl game.

Orange Bowl or not, the Cards will have to play well to beat anyone that they come up against. Whether it’s a team from the Big Ten or the SEC, Louisville must play better football than they did in November.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the most recent bowl projections from ESPN:

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl: Louisville vs. LSU

(Mark Schlabach)

In my opinion, this is the more likely scenario for the Cardinals. Florida State will, more than likely, still be ranked over the Louisville football team next week, which will send them to the Orange Bowl.

Louisville, on the other hand, will have their hands full trying to slow down the LSU Tigers. A win over the Tigers would send the Cards into the offseason feeling better than they do right now. However, it’s going to take a great effort to even make that happen.

Capital One Orange Bowl: Louisville vs. Michigan

(Brett McMurphy)

This is the more interesting bowl projection of the week. This list was released after the new rankings came out, therefore McMurphy would have already known FSU was ranked above the Cardinals.

Either McMurphy is in the Cardinals’ corner or he knows something that we don’t. Who knows, maybe the Cards can still make the Orange Bowl if Alabama destroys Florida this weekend.
