Louisville Football: Elvis Dumervil became a hero for the Ravens on Sunday
We take a look at how former Louisville football player Elvis Dumervil became a hero for the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon.
Former Louisville football player Elvis Dumervil has been non-existent for the Baltimore Ravens this season because of a foot injury. However, he returned to action against the Bengals and made the biggest play of the day.
There was only 1:12 left in the 4th quarter when Cincinnati was driving down the field looking to tie the game at 19. The Ravens’ defense had been playing awesome all day until this last drive, but scoring a touchdown on Baltimore is never a sure thing.
On 3 and 10 from Baltimore’s 16 yard line, Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton dropped back to pass and was sacked by Elvis Dumervil. The hit on Dalton forced the ball out of his hands, onto the ground, and into the arms of Ravens’ defensive-end Lawrence Guy.

Baltimore would then hold on to their lead and get back into 1st place in the AFC North division.
This was the second straight week that a former Louisville football player made the game-winning play for their team. DeVante Parker had the touchdown catch last week and Dumervil had the strip-sack this week.
In a disappointing college football weekend, Dumervil came out and made all of us proud.
The Ravens will be going up against DeVante Parker and the Miami Dolphins who have won six games in-a-row next Sunday in Baltimore.
