Louisville Football: Eli Rogers has great first half for Steelers on MNF

Former Louisville football wide receiver Eli Rogers made his debut on ESPN’s Monday Night Football for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eli Rogers has been trying to make a name for himself in the National Football League for a few years now. He was always a reliable option in the slot for the Louisville football team and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Rogers made his debut this evening for the Pittsburgh Steelers and had himself one heck of a first half of football.

The Steelers currently lead the Washington Redskins at halftime, 14-6. The leading receiver at halftime for Pittsburgh is none other than former Louisville football player Eli Rogers. According to ESPN, Rogers leads the Steelers with six receptions for 59 yards and one touchdown. What a great start to the 2016 NFL season for Eli Rogers.

This is what the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette had to say about Rogers before this game:

“Eli Rogers, out of the slot. This will be Rogers’ first NFL game after spending his rookie season on IR. Ben Roethlisberger loves him, Todd Haley loves him and after tonight you may too. He is a great underdog story, an undrafted player last season from Louisville. His big advantage in college was playing in the slot, something most star receivers have not done when they come to the NFL.”

Rogers still has an entire half of football this evening to get over the 100 yard mark. It’s sure looking like Rogers is making the most of his opportunities as a Pittsburgh Steeler and making his Louisville family very proud.

Look for Rogers to continue his success against the Redskins throughout the second half.
