Louisville Basketball: Reaction to the preseason coaches poll

We take a look at where Louisville basketball landed in the new coaches poll and their fellow ACC school’s ranking.

Everyone found out this morning where the Louisville basketball team would be ranked to start the season and it turns out that they are the 14th ranked team in the country. Louisville is a young and raw team, but they have the talent to be very good this season and being ranked 14th in the coaches poll reflects that.

The ACC received a ton of love as well because there were five teams from the conference that made the top-25 to start the season.

Here are the ACC teams that will start the season inside the top ten, according to the preseason coaches poll:

1. Duke Blue Devils (Previously 18th)

6. North Carolina Tar Heels (Previously 2nd)

7. Virginia Cavaliers (Previously 5th)

14. Louisville Cardinals (Previously not ranked)

17. Syracuse Orange (Previously 10th)

Louisville is going to have to be playing at a high level throughout the 2016-2017 season, as their schedule looks to be brutal.

Duke is no doubt the best team in the land right now as they had a great recruiting class for this year. Louisville split their two games with the Blue Devils last season, but it may be even more of a challenge to knock off Duke in 2016-2017. The Blue Devils will be the team to beat to start the season.

If the Cardinals can play solid basketball through the first month, then they should find themselves inside the top ten very quickly. It’s going to be a fun year for the Louisville basketball program.
