Landsharks bit by injury: Ole Miss DB Conner out at least a month
Hugh Freeze announced Monday the Ole Miss defense would be without arguably its best defensive back for at least four games after Tony Conner tore his meniscus and will need to go under the knife to repair the damage.
Conner suffered the injury to his right knee during the Rebels' big road win at Alabama on Saturday night. The junior defensive back has played in every contest during his 28-game career in Oxford. For his career, Conner has 139 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions.
"We're beat up a bit," Freeze said. "That's something we're concerned about is hopefully you have your best players to put your best efforts forward. You don't always have that in this game."
Look for sophomore A.J. Moore to get the first opportunity to replace Conner, as he entered the Alabama game as the team's backup for Conner.
