Lambeau Field College Classic: No. 5 LSU Tigers vs Wisconsin Badgers

Lambeau Field plays hosts to the No.5 LSU Tigers and the Wisconsin Badgers.

After an eight month lay off, college football is finally back in full swing. And kickoff weekend this year provides plenty of great matchups all across the country for fans to enjoy. One of which comes in Green Bay, WI as the No. 5 LSU Tigers travel north to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in the Lambeau Field College Classic presented by Carmex on Saturday, September 3rd.

The Tigers are led by running back Leonard Fournette who rushed for an SEC-best 1,953 yards and an insane 22 touchdowns while adding a receiving touchdown to boot as well. A Heisman Trophy front-runner, Fournette will look to use this game to start out of the gates quickly against a very tough Wisconsin defense.

Speaking of defense, the Badgers are very familiar with the Tigers defensive coordinator. Dave Aranda joined Les Miles and LSU right after the conclusion of last season after help leading the Badgers to a Holiday Bowl victory and building one of the best defenses in the country. He now takes over a LSU defense that finished the season 25th in total defense and will look to improve that number.

Wisconsin, on the other hand, starts the season with a young offense but led by some veteran players. Running back Corey Clement looks to be back to his 2014 form after an injury hampered him most of last season. Fifth-year senior Bart Houston takes control of the offense to start the season for the first time in his career.

It’s the Badgers defense, however, that gets the most attention. Led by linebacker Vince Biegel, Wisconsin finished the second in total defense and first in scoring defense by allowing just 13.7 points per game. While the front seven is very solid, question marks still linger in the secondary.

This will be the third-straight year Wisconsin opens against an SEC opponent and in an NFL stadium. The Badgers lost to LSU in 2014 in Houston and Alabama last season at AT&T Stadium.
