Kody Walker Finished On the Field for Hogs

Kody Walker, a six-season veteran for the Hogs, will miss the remainder of his final season due to a foot injury.

In all the good news after the win against Ole Miss, came some very sad news for the Hogs. The sixth-year veteran Kody Walker has played his final game for the University of Arkansas.

His season-ending injury actually came in the spring before this season even began. He broke his right foot during practice in April. He underwent surgery following the break in April, however, he has had problems with his recovery from the initial operation.

Instead of giving up, Walker being who Walker is wanted to tape it up and get out there. He has gone on to rush for 113 yards and a touchdown this season, all the while fighting through the pain.

Walker personifies the perseverance this team has. He has had three season ending injuries during his time at Arkansas. Last summer he was given an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA due to all of his injuries and the time he had missed.

What does this say about Kody? What does this say about the trust, loyalty, and commitment from this team as a whole? You can say that the Hogs struggle and you can say that there are definite problems with the team. One thing you can’t say is that they give up.

Kody represents more than just himself. He represents the culture in that locker room. Yeah, they may be down but damn it, they are gonna get out there and fight through the physical pain, the adversity, and the emotional pain. Not just for themselves but for us the fans. Kody Walker should hold a special place in all of our hearts for what he has given to our team. I wish him the best from his surgery today and the best going forward in life. Woo Pig, to one of the greats!
