Knott a likely go for summer workouts, taking realistic approach toward future
The good news for Iowa State is that linebacker Luke Knott appears to be ready to reunite with the team in summer workouts after suffering setbacks related to a lingering hip injury.
The bad news is that there's still some uncertainty about his future on the gridiron—and not just for this season.
However, Knott is taking it in stride, and taking a much more practical approach to his football future than most would.
"He's taking it day by day. He's very realistic because he knows what he's gone through," head coach Paul Rhoads said. "He knows the great deal of pain that he's played with just to continue to play. I think he's probably, 'What's lurking behind the next door for me?' So it's not that he's pessimistic, but he's realistic and he's taking it day by day and seeing where it leads from there."
Rhoads said that Knott is "feeling good," but it's still ambiguous if he'll be able to be play at 100 percent in 2015 and have the kind of impact the Cyclones need him to have.
"If finishing out his career and playing is what he wants, then that's what I want for him," Rhoads added. "We're anxious to see if we can continue down this positive path right now."
