Kentucky Football: Love Named to SEC Community Service Team

Kentucky Football junior linebacker Courtney Love has been named to the 2016 SEC Football Community Service Team, the league announced recently. Love, a Youngstown, Ohio native and transfer from Nebraska, has been active in the community in both Lexington and Lincoln during his college career.
Love is one of several UK student-athletes, one from each sport, to be nominated for SEC Community Service Team honors, which highlights athletes that give back to the community through demonstrated, superior service efforts.
Love was one of three Kentucky football players that participated in a service and educational trip to Ethiopia, where student-athletes helped build houses and provided food, among other activities. Love regularly participates in a mentoring programs for school students, including speaking to high school kids about the importance of good grades and making good decisions, has participated in a summer camp for children fighting cancer and has worked with UK Children’s Hospital, Read Across America, Special Olympics and “Champ’s Camp” youth football camp.
Love has also been nominated for the Danny Wuerffel Trophy for academic, football and community service.
On the field, Love has been a key cog in Kentucky’s defensive improvement this season, starting all 12 games and ranking third overall in tackles with 68. Love forever cemented his place in Kentucky football lore when he recovered Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson’ late fourth quarter comeback that setup Kentucky’s historic game-winning drive.
