Kentucky Football: Jon Toth Wins SEC Weekly Award
The Kentucky football program rushed for 258 yards during its 20-13 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores. The SEC honored the effort with a weekly award.
The Kentucky football program has pulled to .500 with a vital 20-13 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores. At 3-3, Kentucky is just three wins away from ending the bowl drought that’s created a black cloud over Lexington since 2010.
Following that crucial third win, offensive lineman Jon Toth has been honored for his efforts in helping Kentucky reach .500.
Kentucky’s passing attack struggled against Vanderbilt, but its running game was nothing short of sensational. The Wildcats picked up 258 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, which thus paced Kentucky to victory.
According to the official SEC Twitter account, Kentucky offensive lineman Jon Toth was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.

A deserved honor.
Kentucky ran the ball 52 times against the Commodores of Vanderbilt. That’s a shockingly high number of rushing attempts, but Wildcats quarterback Stephen Johnson was just 10-of-24 for 49 passing yards and an interception.
Thus, it wasn’t a matter of Kentucky forcing the issue with the run; it was the only way for the Wildcats to come away with a vital victory.
Four different players ran for at least 50 yards against Vanderbilt. Benny Snell Jr. powered his way 94 yards on 20 carries, Johnson picked up 55 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts, and Jojo Kemp ran the ball 12 times for 55 yards and a score.
Stanley Boom Williams only received nine rushing attempts, but he managed to pick up 55 yards.
Toth, a redshirt junior, was previously named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week following the season opener in 2014. The fact he won it again displays the outstanding job of creating lanes for a wildly productive running game.
A 6’5″ and 310-pound Goliath, Toth is as powerful as his physical gifts imply.
Congratulations on a well-deserved award, Jon Toth.
