Kendal Briles isn't ready to take family's high-flying act solo

Apparently the younger Briles isn't ready to take the family act solo.

Baylor offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, son of head coach Art Briles, had been rumored to be interested in the vacant head coaching position at North Texas. On Sunday, the first-year coordinator said it isn't true, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald.

The Denton Record-Chronicle reported that Kendal Briles, who took over for Philip Montgomery before last season's Cotton Bowl after Montgomery accepted the head coaching job at Tulsa, had submitted his resume to North Texas. That job came open midseason when Dan McCarney was fired. North Texas is 1-10.

Kendal Briles, who played quarterback for his father at Stephenville High School, served as the Bears' wide receivers coach before being promoted.

He's overseen the nation's No. 1 offense in yards per game (644.1) and points per game (53.8).
