Jordan Thompson strives to be 'big playmaker' in senior season

Playing alongside the likes of Kevin White and Mario Alford didn't exactly thrust Jordan Thompson into the spotlight, but now that that the standout receivers are gone, he'll have his chance to grab the spotlight on the receiving corps.

“From my freshman year to now my role has increased," Thompson told Times West Virginian. "This year I should be the go-to guy. I’m the senior on the field. I feel like I need to be that big playmaker on the field, so this spring (and) this summer I’m going to get together with Skyler and make sure our chemistry is down.”

Having witnessed the evolution of the relationship between White and quarterback Clint Trickett, Thompson aims to achieve a similar sense of chemistry with West Virginia's newly named starting quarterback Skyler Howard.

“We talked about it, about having these little get-togethers, little bondings to work on our chemistry,” he said. “Kevin and Clint did that and it was like night and day from the spring to the summer for them. There were definitely little quirks here and there in the spring, but they went out in the summer and worked hard and it showed on the field come August.”
