Jared Goff named No. 53 college football player of 2015

Cal QB Jared Goff is one of the best quarterbacks in the entire country. It should be no surprise that he had been listed as the No. 53 player on ESPN's top-100 player list for 2015.

Here's what ESPN had to say about Goff:

"If Cal fielded what amounted to even an average -- or maybe slightly-below-average -- defense during the past two seasons, Goff would be a national name and on just about every preseason Heisman watch list. But it didn't, so he isn't. Without the wins to garner more national attention, Goff quietly put up a remarkable sophomore season (3,973 yards passing, 35 TD, 7 INT, 62.1 completion percentage) and tops Mel Kiper Jr.'s rankings of eligible quarterbacks for the 2016 draft."

While Goff may not have gotten enough coverage during his first two seasons, this could be the year he becomes a star. Cal is one of the most experienced teams in the country and the defense can't perform any worse than it did last year.
