Jacksonville State lands former Clemson QB Cooper
(STATS) - Former Clemson quarterback Zerrick Cooper announced he is transferring to FCS power Jacksonville State on social media Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Cooper served as one of two backups to starter Kelly Bryant as a redshirt freshman this past season. He will be eligible immediately for the four-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Gamecocks, who were 10-2 in 2017.
The former four-star prospect out of Georgia played in seven games, completing 25 of 41 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns.
His transfer was confirmed by Jacksonville State recruiting coordinator J.R. Sandlin via Twitter. The Gamecocks are returning last year's starting quarterback, fifth-year senior Bryant Horn.
