Casey Therriault threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns as Jackson State rallied to beat Southern University 28-24 on Saturday night.
Trailing 24-21 with 4:36 minutes to play, Therriault threw a 12-yard TD pass to Rico Richardson to give Jackson State (3-0, 1-0 SWAC) a 28-24 lead. The touchdown capped a seven play, 65-yard drive that completed the Tigers comeback and left Southern (1-2, 1-1 SWAC) with only 1:32 left on the clock.
Jackson State recorded a sack and forced three incompletions on Southern's next possession, sealing it for the Tigers.
The Tigers' rushing attacked controlled the clock as they racked up 155 yards. B.J. Lee led the way, rushing for 81 yards on 13 carries.
Dray Joseph threw three touchdowns but only completed one pass in the fourth quarter and Southern's rushing attack struggled to get anything going, as Jackson State held the Jaguars to 19 yards.
