Is an Arizona State running back switching to defense?

ASU's Demario Richard has looked like a serviceable leading back through four games. D.J. Foster and Kalen Ballage are all solid backups earning their playing time, too.

De'Chavon "Gump" Hayes, however, has looked rocky early this season (even apologizing for his performance) oth on offense and on special teams. He is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry on 13 attempts this season, failing to record a touchdown.

According to AZ Central's Doug Haller, Hayes played defense as a 2nd-team corner during practice on Tuesday morning. Devils Digest reports that Hayes broke up a pass during the team drills.
