Iron Bowl truce: Former Tiger gives Bama student a bday do-over following surgery

Jonathon Mincy spent the last four seasons on one end of the most vicious rivalries in all of sports as a member of the football team at Auburn. However, his allegiance to the Tigers didn't stop him from doing something truly special for a soon-to-be Alabama student from Atlanta recently.

While currently fighting for a roster spot with the Atlanta Falcons, Mincy was informed of a young man who had spent his 18th birthday in an Atlanta hospital following heart transplant surgery. The young man, identified only by his first name of D'Sean by AL.com, will be enrolling at Alabama in the fall.

Despite being on the opposite side of the Iron Bowl rivalry, Mincy did something incredibly altruistic for D'Sean and treated him to the birthday night out he missed out due to his surgery.

This just goes to show that although sports rivalries are great on the field, competitors can still treat one another with respect outside the lines and no game should mean more than leading a good life away from the field of competition.
