Iowa Football Rejoins AP Poll Top-25
Iowa is back in the AP Poll top-25 after a win over Nebraska
Iowa football started the season ranked 17th in the AP Poll. They climbed up to 13th after a 2-0 start, however haven’t been ranked since losing to North Dakota State in week three.
Currently on a three game winning streak, that includes two wins over top-20 teams and a shutout win over Illinois, Iowa ends the regular season 8-4 and back in the AP Poll top-25. Iowa is playing great football right now, and they are being rewarded for it.
The Hawkeyes come in at 22 this week, one spot ahead of Nebraska. They are one of six new teams in the top-25 this week.
Along with Iowa and Nebraska ranked 22 and 23, respectively, the Big Ten has four teams in the top-eight. Ohio State stays at #2, Michigan dropped to #5, Wisconsin dropped to #6 and Penn State stayed at #8.
Of course, the College Football Playoff Ranking is what’s important at this point of the season. That ranking will be released on Tuesday, and there’s a good chance that Iowa will crack that top-25 ranking, as well.
After an up-and-down season, Iowa has a chance to finish the season in the top-20 and around where they started the season. Iowa should be in a good bowl game after their recent success, which will help their potential top-25 ranking at the end of the year.
