Injured Clemson WR Williams says he's returning for 2016
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Injured Clemson receiver Mike Williams said Friday he'll return to the Tigers next season.
Williams was a 1,000-yard receiver last season and figured to be a key part of the top-ranked Tigers' offense this season. Instead, he injured his neck after running into the goalpost stanchion in Clemson's opening game with Wofford and has not played since.
There was a chance the 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior might've finished his rehab in the NFL and declared for the draft. But Williams said he had unfinished business at Clemson.
Williams said he could take part in all drills in spring practice, but will probably sit out contract work until the fall.
Williams had 57 catches for 1,030 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore in 2014.
