Huskers DT Collins named one of Big Ten's best players

As spring practices get underway around the country, it's that time of year for lists. In this case, we are talking about the best returning players in the Big Ten.

On this list from Athlon Sports, you'll find just one Husker player: Maliek Collins.

Here is an excerpt of what they said about the junior DT:

Collins isn’t a household name yet, but the Missouri native is poised for a breakout year as the anchor for Nebraska’s defense. In his first full season as a starter in 2014, Collins recorded 45 tackles (14 for a loss) and 4.5 sacks. He has the talent to push for All-American honors in 2015.

Collins is projected to be a potential first-round pick after the season, according to most of the Nebraska media, so this may be a situation where Husker fans need to enjoy him while he is still around. Expectations will be high for Collins, the most proven commodity on the defensive line, but he certainly has the talent to back that up.

Also listed in the "others to watch" group was senior running back Imani Cross, who is battling for a starting spot with Adam Taylor and Terrell Newby.
