Hurricane travel concerns prompt time change for USF-UConn

STORRS, Conn. (AP) Travel concerns prompted officials to move the start of Saturday's football game between No. 21 South Florida and UConn to 10:30 a.m.

The game had been scheduled for noon in East Hartford, Connecticut, well out of Hurricane Irma's path.

The issue for USF was the potential impact the storm may have on the Tampa area, including if it would impede the Bulls getting home after the game.

UConn said Wednesday the decision was made to move up the start time after the schools consulted with officials from the American Athletic Conference.

The teams are both in the AAC's East Division, but there was not a shared off date for rescheduling.

The conference says halftime will be just 15 minutes and USF will depart immediately after the game, with no media availabilities at the stadium.
