Hoyer creating positive vibes in Houston

The past couple of years have been a rollercoaster for Brian Hoyer, but FOX Sports' Alex Marvez notes things could be looking up for the former Michigan State quarterback.

Marvez writes the starting job with the Houston Texans is Hoyer's to lose after he appeared to be the most consistent performer during the team's offseason program.

That has to be welcome news for Hoyer, who this time a year ago was working his way back from a knee injury and trying to hold off hotshot rookie Johnny Manziel for the starting job in Cleveland.

Hoyer was hailed as a conquering hometown hero as he helped the Browns to a 6-3 start, but the former Cleveland St. Ignatius High School star fell out of favor quickly as his play deteriorated and the team slumped to 1-6 finish and missed the playoffs.

Perhaps he can write a happier next chapter to his story with a new team.
