How does Fournette compare with past Heisman winners?

At this current point in the season, LSU running back Leonard Fournette has rushed for 1,352 yards and 15 touchdowns on only 176 attempts. 

One would think he's the odds-on favorite to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy (injury-permitting). When compared to others who've won the award, he's right on pace with some of the greats at the running back position. 

His "season low" rushing total equaled 150 yards this past weekend against Western Kentucky. This is the second-highest total for any running back to win the award, only behind Barry Sanders' mark of 154 yards. 

Fournette's physical running style is plainly evident in the realm of breaking tackles. He broke 14 tackles in the victory over Western Kentucky. In the last six games alone, Fournette has broken 60 tackles. 

If he continued on his current rushing clip (in terms of the regular season), he'd finish with about 2,124 yards. This mark would place him tied for No. 11 with Ricky Williams for most rushing yards in a single season. With an extra game (or more, depending on where LSU finishes), there's no question he could be in store for a truly historic season statistically.
