Hornibrook's Poise Impressive for The Wisconsin Badgers

What’s up with Alex Hornibrook?

Over the past decade Wisconsin Football has struggled to find a quality quarterback outside of the season with Russell Wilson at the helm. Yes, Stave leads the Badgers in career wins but he was never the quarterback that would bring Wisconsin over the top. But back to Hornibrook, is this kid the best? Not yet, but all signs are showing he could be.

For most, Freshman quarterback making their first road start always seems to cause people to panic. But with Hornibrook at the helm, it appeared as though a wave of calm came over the Badgers Team, Fans, and especially him. Hornibrook plays with a poise and calmness that is rare to see at such a young age.

Why is that? It all lies in Hornibrook’s preparation. Even when he was the backup, and when he lost the starting job this spring Wisconsin’s coaching staff stated that Alex always prepared as though he was the starter. Almost waiting for his opportunity that he knew he would get, and when he got it, he struck. In each game Alex has showed the confidence he has and its translated onto the field.

Against Akron, Hornibrook stepped in and made only 5 throws, and completed them all with precision. He threw touch passes right on target. It turned some heads, Badger fans saw the potential this kid had. Against Georgia State, he stepped right in and took the offense to another level leading a comeback victory. Against Michigan State, he came in on the road and started his first career game off without missing a beat. In such a short amount of time, Hornibrook has already started a very impressive resume.

Now it feels as though Hornibrook is poised to keep up his impressive play. With a road victory already under his belt, he’ll face another challenge going into college footballs biggest venue. While many might panic, Alex will likely remain calm. He’s got the confidence of his team, the confidence of his coaches, and most importantly the confidence in himself. Don’t worry Badger fans, we are in good hands with Alex at the helm.
