This isn't a ranking of the best players or the top NFL prospects. This is an attempt to put the finger on the pulse of the Heisman chase. Here are the current favorites at the moment, and this will change week after week with players moving in and out of the categories.

QB Todd Reesing, Sr. Kansas

This week: Home vs. Iowa State.

Last week: 30-of-41, 331 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT in the win over Southern Miss two weeks ago.

Hovering in the waiting room and looking for his chance to show what he can do on a national scale, it's all about building up the baseline of numbers and amassing the wins before playing Oklahoma on October 24th. If he and KU pull that off, and can beat Texas Tech in Lubbock on Halloween, the Heisman campaign will be on its way.

QB Tate Forcier, Fr. Michigan

This week: at Iowa.

Last week: 17-of-32, 223 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 27 rushing yards in the loss to Michigan State.

Michigan might have lost to Michigan State, and Forcier might have thrown a bad interception in overtime, but he was magical in the way he brought the team back late, He's a special player who's leading a resurgent year, but to have any hope of staying in the race he has to be special in a win at Iowa on prime-time national TV.
























On the radar, but the world is looking for more



QB Sam Bradford, Jr. Oklahoma

This week: Baylor.

Last week: Out with injury vs. Miami.

He's talking about trying to play against Baylor to warm up for the Oct. 17 showdown against Texas. But he also hasn't ruled out the possibilty of surgery on his injured right shoulder. With the way Oklahoma lost to Miami and BYU, if Bradford returns and makes the OU offense hum, he'll be in the Heisman race in a Most Valuable Player type of way.

QB Case Keenum, Jr. Houston

This week: at Mississippi State.

Last week: 51-of-76 for 536 yards and five touchdowns in a loss to UTEP.
