Hawkeyes Football: Iowa Moves Up in the AP Poll, Again
The Iowa Hawkeyes continue to move up in both polls
Following a dominating victory over Iowa State in week two, the Iowa Hawkeyes were rewarded with another slide up the AP Poll. The Hawkeyes only moved up one spot to #16 following their win over Miami (OH), but moved up three spots this week after winning 42-3. The Hawkeyes are now #13 in the AP Poll as they set their eyes on hosting North Dakota State this Saturday.
Following Clemson struggling against Auburn in week one and only sneaking out with a six-point win over Troy, the Clemson Tigers dropped to #5. That means two Big Ten teams currently sit in the top-four, Ohio State at #3 and Michigan at #4. Of course, the AP Poll has nothing to do with the College Football Playoff, and it’s only week two, but it’s a good sign for the Big Ten, nonetheless.
The Buckeyes will have a tough test this week against the #14 Oklahoma Sooners. As much as people want to believe that Oklahoma is out of the Playoff race, they’re not considering their difficult schedule. Ohio State has a chance to move up to #2 with a win and Oklahoma could move back into the top-10.

Wisconsin is the third Big Ten team in the top-10, ranked #9. The biggest drop for a team who stayed in the rankings was Georgia. The Bulldogs are now #16, around where they started the season. They jumped into the top-10 following a win over North Carolina, however, after a two point win over Nicholls, it seems voters are more level-headed about Georgia.
TCU and Oklahoma State both dropped from the rankings after getting upset, not a good sign for the Big 12. Florida re-enters the top-25 at #23 and Arkansas, who upset TCU, is now #24.
Hawkeyes’ fans may not be happy that Iowa has only moved up four spots despite two blowout wins, especially when considering the crazy movement that took place last week. Iowa still hasn’t gotten to the tough part of their schedule, though. That’s when they’ll start to see more drastic movement up the AP Poll and College Football Ranking. Until then, the Hawkeyes just need to keep winning big over mediocre teams and proving that they’re for real.
The top-10 in this week’s AP Poll is:
1. Alabama Crimson Tide 2-0
2. Florida State Seminoles 2-0
3. Ohio State Buckeyes 2-0
4. Michigan Wolverines 2-0
5. Clemson Tigers 2-0
6. Houston Cougars 2-0
7. Stanford Cardnial 1-0
8. Washington Huskies 2-0
9. Wisconsin Badgers 2-0
10. Louisville Cardinals 2-0
Another big win over a very good FCS school in North Dakota State could possibly catapult them into the top-10 if a couple of upsets happen.
