Harbaugh's 'craziness about the game' appealing to Wolverines

"Crazy" is a word that often gets associated with Jim Harbaugh, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.

The new Michigan coach's idiosyncrasies have probably contributed to his success in a demanding profession, but they might also have played a role in his eventual parting with the San Francisco 49ers late last year.

Whatever the case, Harbaugh appears to be his own man, and that is playing well with his new pupils in Ann Arbor.

"Me and Coach Harbaugh, we share similarities with our love and enthusiasm for the game, our drive, our craziness about the game, our competitiveness," defensive back Jabrill Peppers told The Detroit News. "We hit it off right off the bat. He loves a guy that's going to come out and compete and give whatever he has, and I'm that type of guy. Every time I come out on the field, whether it's practice or workout, I just want to give it my all and show everybody and prove to myself that I am who I say I am, and that's one of the hardest-working guys, a guy you can count on to make plays."

Peppers, a redshirt freshman who was one of the highest-rated recruits in 2014 but is coming off an injury that ended his season early, added that the team is feeding off Harbaugh's new energy after Brady Hoke was fired in December.

"The overall outlook on this team has changed in just these past six months," Peppers said. "The sky's really the limit for us."
