Hampton 22, Savannah St. 5

DeVonte Hawkins tackled Savannah State's Antonio Bostic for a safety to start 19 straight points by Hampton in a 22-5 win on Saturday.

It was the second safety of the game after Savannah State's Nate Clay tackled Antwon Chisholm in the end zone for a 3-2 Tigers' lead. The Tigers (1-7, 1-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) made it 5-3 on Derek Williams' 22-yard field goal with 4 seconds left in the second quarter.

Taurean Durham's 29-yard field goal put Hampton (5-3, 3-2) ahead 8-5 with 10 seconds left in the third quarter.

Savannah State went just 2 of 15 on first downs, as the Tigers totaled just 150 yards of offense.

The offensive problems were evident during a late drive, when Bostic threw an incomplete pass on fourth-and-10 from the Tigers' 46.

Hampton then scored on a 46-yard run by Chisholm with 4:53 left for the final margin.
