Gueller's record 8 TDs sends Idaho St. past Idaho 62-28
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Tanner Gueller threw for career-highs of 492 yards and eight touchdowns as Idaho State beat Idaho 62-28 on Saturday afternoon.
Gueller also ran for 81 yards on 11 carries for the Bengals (4-1, 3-0 Big Sky). His eight touchdown passes set a school record. Michael Dean had 156 yards receiving and four touchdown catches. Mitch Gueller had 184 yards and a score receiving.
It was the Idaho State's first win over the Vandals (2-3, 1-2) since the 1995 season.
Gueller threw for five touchdowns in the first half, including an 87-yarder to Demonte Horton and a 62-yarder to Dean, to help the Bengals build a 35-14 advantage at halftime.
The Vandals cut it to 35-21 early in the third on a 17-yard touchdown run by Tyrese Walker but could not further close the gap.
Colton Richardson threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns for the Vandals. Isaiah Saunders ran for 144 yards on 19 carries.
