Greyson Lambert ready to compete against Jacob Eason

With five-star recruit Jacob Eason reaffirming his commitment to Georgia Tuesday, incumbent starter Greyson Lambert's time at quarterback appears to be nearing an end. At least that's how many fans are surely taking the news, however Lambert isn't ready to concede the starting duties just yet.

The learning curve from high school quarterback to college is a big one and unrealistic for many to make immediately. Considering Lambert already has four years of college experience under his belt, don't expect the senior to surrender the job without a fight.

Lambert was recently asked to comment on Georgia's highly touted incoming quarterback, according to Dawg Nation:

It could also help Lambert's cause that UGA's new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney was a member of Tennessee's 2011 staff that recruited Lambert. Chaney helped salvage the career of a struggling senior quarterback once before in the SEC, can he do it again?

“Well, I mean, no matter where you go or what year it is, there’s always going to be competition,” said Lambert. “There’s competition everywhere. I’ve been in a QB competition all four years of my college career. And so it’s really nothing new. I’m looking forward to competing.”

“I definitely needed to be more consistent,” Lambert said. “I felt like if you compare it to my last season at Virginia, I made some improvements. But it was not good enough to get us where we wanted to be this year.”
