Gophers recruits forming a unique bond

It has become commonplace for recruits to become de facto recruiters for the school they commit to. That isn't uncommon now at all but when you see a future college player going the extra mile, it has to be recognized.

Minnesota linebacker commit Carter Coughlin decided to take matters into his own hands when he realized that he didn't know many of the players also committed to the Gophers. Check out what he had to say via the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

"Eden Prairie’s star linebacker told his dad he needed to use the family’s cabin in Pequot Lakes for a weekend in June," Scoggins writes. Coughlin wanted to invite a bunch of strangers with a common connection to the lake for a getaway.  'I thought that having the guys up to the cabin would just be killer,' he said."

“Honestly, I think that’s what a championship team looks like,  Coughlin told Scoggins. It’s a team that has each other’s backs. We’ve got a pretty sweet bond going.”

Coughlin says the group fished, went tubing, had football competitions, and just got to know each other. Even though the coaching staff isn't allowed to comment on recruits right now, they are surely as impressed by this as the rest of us. It sounds like the Gophers have a real team leader in the making.
