Georgia legend Ward thinks 'it'd be great' to join Kirby Smart's staff

With Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart likely to be named as Georgia's next head football coach, many around Athens are intrigued at the potential names joining Smart on his staff.

One former Bulldog legend has already thrown his hat into the proverbial ring.

Hines Ward was interviewed on The Paul Finebaum Show earlier on Wednesday. A teammate of Smart's during his time at Georgia, the four-time pro bowler didn't hold back in relaying his interest in a possible position.

"When Kirby Smart's name came up as a head coach it's something you get the itch for," said Ward. "It's like, man how great would that be to be a part of his staff and help my alma mater get to the promised land."

Ward certainly understands the landscape within the football program. With his decorated past on the collegiate and professional ranks, he likely would resonate with potential recruits.
