Gallman plows into the end zone to give Clemson the lead over Alabama

A two-yard touchdown run by Wayne Gallman allowed Clemson to take a 24-21 lead over Alabama late in the third quarter of the College Football Playoff Championship game on Monday.

The two-yard TD plunge capped off a nine-play, 60-yard drive highlighted by an electric 20-yard scramble by quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Clemson, who held a 14-7 lead in the first quarter, fell behind 21-17 after Alabama scored on a 53-yard TD pass from Jake Coker to O.J. Howard in the third quarter, but reclaimed the lead after Gallman’s score. Clemson would eventually fall 45-40 to Alabama.
