Former top QB recruit transferring from UCLA
By Daniel Ledbetter
UCLA back-up quarterback Asiantii Woulard announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will be transferring from the Bruins.
"After much thought, I'll be transferring from UCLA. Thankful for the opportunity & great experience, now looking forward to a new beginning," Woulard tweeted. "I'll never regret choosing UCLA. The past 2 years have been the experience of lifetime & made a lot of relationships that'll last forever."
Woulard will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2015 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He did not see any action in his first two years with the Bruins.
Coming out of Winter Park High School in Orlando, Fla., Woulard was ranked as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2013 by ESPN. He was also named to the Elite 11 squad.
UCLA was in the midst of a four-way competition to replace Brent Hundley prior to Asiantii’s transfer announcement. It is possible he read the writing on the wall after losing the backup job last season to Jerry Neuheisel and decided to find a change of scenery sooner rather than later.
It will be interesting to see if the Florida native chooses to transfer closer to home this time around.
