Former Razorback QB Stoerner sees weakness in Alabama

Former Arkansas player Clint Stoerner returned to Fayetteville Wednesday to speak to the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club. Stoerner starred for the Razorbacks in the late '90s and is now a SEC football analyst for the SEC Network. 

The former quarterback gave his analysis on the Razorbacks next opponent and sees weakness in the Alabama's team that many may not realize is there heading into the weekend. 

"Alabama has got some holes," Stoerner said, according to 247Sports. "They're giving up about 230 yards per game passing. (QB Jake) Coker is inconsistent at best. He surprised the country coming out the second half against Ole Miss and then did what he did last week against Georgia. But I think Georgia is untested so we really don't know what they were.

"So there are some holes that Alabama doesn't typically have. They're still ripe for the picking. I think one thing that bothered Coach B a lot last year he knew they should have beaten them. To me that was the year they had a chance to not just beat them, but significantly better. And they let it slip through their hands."

Stoerner also gave Arkansas praise for going into Neyland and beating Tennessee. A team he believes is much better than their record indicates. 

"I believe in Tennessee," Stoerner said. "Tennessee is five or six plays away from being 4-1. Arkansas is the only that beat them for four quarters and deserved to win."

The SEC Network analyst also gave his thoughts on how he would like to see the Razorbacks attack Alabama's defense. 

"I would like to see Arkansas really hone in on the quick passing game," Stoerner said. "Brandon is good at sitting back in the pocket 10-yards deep and passing, but you aren't going to make a living in this league doing that. I thought the adjustment against A&M was really good because their two defensive ends it worked great early. It has worked great every time Arkansas has gone to it. I would expect to see a little bit more of that this week."

If the Hog stick to the script and come out of Tuscaloosa with Bielema's biggest win to date, expect Stoerner to be asked to come back to the NWA Touchdown Club every week with his analysis.
