Former Kansas stars Heeney, Shepherd handling draft prep oppositely

Both linebacker Ben Heeney and cornerback JaCorey Shepherd are projected to be selected somewhere around the middle of the 2015 NFL Draft. That's a fact that Heeney knows well, and Shepherd wouldn't want to know.

"I would prefer not to look at it (all)," Shepherd told the Topeka Capital-Journal of his draft breakdown. "It's all opinions, whether it's a credible website or not."

Heeney, on the other hand, has read all the materials he can find, and even has a counter argument for some of his the harsher assessments written about him, particularly about his missed tackles.

"I had 127 tackles," he said. "So if I had 127 tackles, and then I led the nation in whatever it is, missed tackles, then I was around the ball a lot, I would say."

Both former KU stars will be celebrating the once-in-a-lifetime moment of getting a call from the NFL team who will draft them at home with their families. Shepherd says he won't even have the television on.

"I don't want to get myself all wound up, especially if it's somebody that I think I'm better than, they go before me, doing all that," Shepherd said. "I'd rather sit back and chill with the family and wait to get that phone call."
