Former Baylor player charged with sexual assault responds to Art Briles firing

Baylor fired head coach Art Briles on Thursday amid sexual assault allegations against his program that reportedly date back to 2009.

Three Baylor football players have been arrested on a sexual assault charge in the past four years. Shawn Oakman, the school's all-time sack leader, was one of those players.

Oakman was arrested in April and charged with sexual assault after he allegedy assaulted another Baylor student after meeting her at a Waco nightclub. After the arrest it was reported that Oakman had previously been accused of sexual assualt in 2013, but his ex-girlfriend did not press charges and Oakman was not arrested. Oakman was preparing for the 2016 NFL Draft at the time of his recent arrest and went undrafted and is currently a free agent.

On Thursday, Oakman tweeted this response to Briles' firing:

A number of Baylor football players also took to Twitter to support Briles.
